Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 6 June 1987. Smith discusses her early life and religious experiences in Jackson, Mississippi. She talks about her conversion to the Mormon Church as a teenager and its influence on her daily activities. She comments on her feelings about black Mormons.
